Lucy can’t bear the thought of soldiers being sent off to war without the hope of someone to come home to. Lucy’s inability to say “no” puts her in a serious predicament when not only do all the men she promised herself to survive the Second World War, they all arrive home on the same day, ready for nuptial bliss. With the men returned, suddenly jobs, apartments, and love are all on the line in this mad-cap, door-slamming, hilarious farce as Lucy tries to set things right one cake at a time.

Jameela is an actress, musician, and emerging writer from Edmonton. She is thrilled to be making her Persephone debut! Jameela is a MacEwan Theatre Arts alumnus. Currently, she is a 2022/23 mentee under the RBC Horizon Emerging Artists Program (Citadel Theatre), with a focus in playwriting.

Dick
Cameron is a Toronto based actor and theatre creator. A graduate of the Theatre and Drama Studies program at Sheridan College and the University of Toronto Mississauga. Some of his acting recent credits include Kim’s Convenience (Thousand Islands Playhouse), 1851: Spirit & Voice (Soulpepper); Serving Elizabeth (Stratford Festival); 4 seasons at the Shaw Festival, Happy Birthday Baby J (Shadow Theatre); as well as productions with Talk Is Free Theatre, Theatre Animal, Theatre Erindale, Secret Shakespeare Series, Canadian Rep Theatre and Clay and Paper Theatre. As an emerging director Cameron has worked as an assistant director on the cecil hotel (Theatre Erindale); among men (Factory Theatre); Harlem Duet (Bard on the Beach). Cameron’s first play Meet Chloe, a virtual play that explores the challenges Black students face in the education system and the lack of Black curriculum content in the study of Canadian History, received its premiere at Carousel Players in the fall of 2021. He is excited to be here in Saskatoon working on this wonderful show!
Clark/Chester
Excited to be making his Persephone Theatre debut, Kenn (he/him) is an award-winning performer, director, educator, and Clown. He received his BFA in Acting at the University of Regina and his MFA in Directing from The University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Kenn has worked across North America and beyond, most recently as performer with Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan in Cymbeline (2022). He is the Executive Director of Saskatoon Summer Players, teaches at the University of Saskatchewan, and is thrilled to be a Saskatchewan Artist. Incidentally, he had one grandfather who was a vacuum cleaner salesman (Electrolux/Filter Queen) and one grandfather who was in both WWI (42nd Battalion Royal Highlanders of Canada) and WWII (Veterans Guard).
Ms. Crotch
Kristel Harder (she/they) is a queer, disabled, award winning actor, singer, and musician. They hold their Masters from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and are a graduate of MacEwan University’s Theatre Arts Program. She is a settler on Treaty 6 Territory and is thankful to live and work in this beautiful community. Select credits include: After Sundown (Live Five), I Lost My Husband (Persephone Theatre), As You Like It (Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan), Fiddler on the Roof (Persephone Theatre), and The Penelopiad (FerrePlay Theatre). Heather is a multi-faceted theatre practitioner who works as a director, actor, playwright, dramaturg, and producer. Her work has taken her throughout Canada, having worked for such companies as the National Arts Centre, Western Canada Theatre, Citadel Theatre, Gateway Theatre, Persephone Theatre, Thousand Islands Playhouse, Chemainus Theatre, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, Pi Theatre, Axis Theatre, Presentation House, Upintheair Theatre, Project X Theatre, Urban Ink, and SkirtsAfire. This is Heather’s second season as Artistic Director of Persephone Theatre.
Assistant Director
Johanna (she/her) is a multidisciplinary theatre artist who works primarily as an actor, writer, stage manager and newbie director. She made her directorial debut with Antifa Supersoldier written by Caleigh Crow for the 2021 Short Cuts Festival and loved it. Since then, she’s had the pleasure of directing projects such as: Sad Girls Watch the Princess Bride (director; First Monday Sum Theatre), You Said We’d be Together Forever (director; We Treaty People Burnt Thicket Theatre), and Breaking the Curse (co-director; 25th Street Theatre & Ferre Play). She’s finding directing to be the perfect combination of all the hats she wears as an artist. Like a Pokémon, she feels herself approaching her final evolution: adulthood. When she’s not working in theatre, Johanna enjoys knitting, saying hi to dogs, and doing crosswords with her (singular) fiancée.
Set Designer
Sarah is a Nigerian multi-disciplinary artist, filmmaker and theatre designer based in Calgary. Sarah is the 2022 winner of the RBC Emerging Artist Award. She enjoys creative collaborations and is passionate about storytelling, and artistic exploration through theatre, film and visual art.
Lighting Designer
For over 20 years, this locally grown, SATAward winning lighting designer has been painting with colourful photons in theatre, live entertainment and in architecture. Byron received his BFA in Design from the University of Saskatchewan in 2010 and is excited to be back at Persephone Theatre after this lengthy intermission. Recent works include: Set and Lighting design for After Sundown (Pegasus Productions, Live Five), Iago Speaks (Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan), Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Sparrow Theatre Company), and Reasonable Doubt (Persephone Theatre). Sound Designer
A Treaty 6 based neurodivergent theatre artist, Grahame wears a lot of hats; working as a performer, writer, producer, designer, voice artist, editor, dramaturg, foley artist, director and stage manager.
Grahame is absolutely delighted to be sound designing for this hilarious feminist farce here at Persephone Theatre! You may remember him as the Foley Artist in last year’s It’s A Wonderful Life; A Live Radio Play.
Grahame has been seen on stages across Canada and you may have seen his work at Live Five, Persephone Theatre, The Globe Theatre, Wide Open, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan and many more indie venues.

Jeff Chief is Cree from Onion Lake First Nation on Treaty 6 territory in Saskatchewan and currently lives in Saskatoon. Jeff has been a costume stitcher, cutter, and costume designer in theatres across Canada. Recent acting credits include The Wolves (EvilStick/BigLittle/Live Five), Jabber and For Art’s Sake for the Persephone Theatre Youth Tour, Pirate Heart (Souris Valley Theatre), boom (Fire in the Hole/Live Five.) As well as performing and designing, Miranda is the Head of Wardrobe at Persephone Theatre. Miranda holds her bachelor of fine arts in acting (University of Saskatchewan).
Stage Manager
Ricardo Alvarado (he/they) is a Saskatoon based theatre artist. They are a proud member of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association, the co-founder of Ppl r Ppl Productions, and they are the Production Manager for SUM Theatre. In their spare time, they love to play dress up and their alter ego (Puffy von Pop-n-Fresh) is a previous Miss Gay Saskatoon titleholder. Ricardo is also passionate about teaching young ones how to express themselves creatively. They regularly teach art to kids through the Hugo Alvarado Community Art Project and recently led a week-long drag intensive for teens at Persephone Theatre. Ricardo believes laughter is almost always the best medicine, and they are so excited to spend the holiday season working on a farce with a big smile in their heart. Enjoy the show!

A versatile theatre artist, Jalisa works hard to balance acting, stage management, clown, production and writing. Holding a BFA in Acting from the University of Saskatchewan and training from the Manitoulin Conservatory of Creation and Performance. Select work: No.7, Pot Roast (Shortcuts 2020 & 2021, Playwright), SATAward recipient for outstanding supportive performance as #2 in The Wolves (Little Big Theatre/Evil Stick/Live Five). No stranger to Persephone Theatre, this is their seventh production and will be back in the spring for The Velveteen Rabbit – But first, Jalisa is off to Victoria BC, for Yvette Nolans The Unplugging at The Belfry Theatre.

Aaron is a Sautleaux two-spirit artist who hails from the Cote First Nations of Treaty 4, he first got involved with theatre in 2007 with Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company’s (now known as Gordon Tootoosis Nikaniwin Theatre or GTNT), Circle of Voices (COV) Program, and in 2008 joined their Red Spirit Program, in 2012 he made the switch from acting into stage management and has never looked back on that decision. Credits as a stage manager include; Titus A. Puppet Revenge (Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan), In Care (GTNT), Alice in Wonderland (Sum Theatre), Mekiwin: The Gift (GTNT), The Hours That Remain (Gwaandak Theatre), Pied Piper (SumTheatre), Nicimos (GTNT), The House You Build (GTNT), Cree’s in the Caribbean (GTNT), The (Post) Mistress (GTNT) and Two Indians (GTNT), Shakespeare’s Will (Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan). Aaron wishes to continue working hard to be a role model for aboriginal youth wishing to get involved in the performing arts.
Fight and Intimacy Director
Erin Brophy (She/ They) is thrilled to be part of the team on The Fiancée. Erin holds a BFA Honours in Acting from the University of Saskatchewan, and works as a fight and intimacy director, playwright, theatre educator, stunt performer, and actor. Erin is a member of Fight Directors’ Canada and The International Order of the Sword and the Pen, and additionally has trained with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (formally Intimacy Directors International), the National Society of Intimacy Professionals, and Principal Intimacy Professionals. Past fight/intimacy direction credits include After Sundown (Pegasus Productions), Rock of Ages (Broadway North Theatre Company), Carmen (Saskatoon Opera), L’Auberge (Fully Productions), 9 to 5: The Musical (Saskatoon Summer Players) Little Women (St. Joseph High School), Flush, Will and Ernest, Scapin (La Troupe du Jour), The Three Musketeers (Odyssey Productions). Design Apprentice
Kei Tanaka (she/her) is an artist from Treaty Six Territory. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio arts with a focus on painting and with a sprinkle of theatre design on the side. She does illustration work and in 2019, she self-published her first picture book, The Nutcracker. Currently, she is the Artist in Residence at Saskatoon’s Bunkhouse Project. Kei is always ready to share a smile and happiness through art!
