Rooted in Anishnaabe and Métis storytelling, a young girl’s “imaginary friend,” a shapeshifter named Thomas, helps her reconnect with her art, language, and culture. Having recently lost her grandfather (Shoom), Bellevue feels out of touch with the stories and words her Shoom used to share. Luckily, with some help from ancestor Nokomis, Bellevue learns Shoom’s knowledge lives on in her, and there is more to her friend Thomas than meets the eye.
The Mixolydian uses humour and music – including Metis fiddling and jigging – to take audiences on an interactive family friendly journey through love and loss.
