Update March 19, 2020
This season’s final main stage production of The Shoplifters was to begin rehearsals and set construction on April 3rd. Persephone sadly announces the cancellation of The Shoplifters – which was scheduled to run from April 29 to May 13 in Rawlco Radio Hall.
We join ranks with arts organizations across the country who have cancelled current and future stage productions to ensure the safety and well being of their staff, artists and patrons. We are in the middle of an unprecedented health crisis and Persephone will continue to do its part in helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.
The following productions and programs have now been cancelled or postponed:
- Inside/Out, Deep End
- Stones in His Pockets, Main Stage
- The Shoplifters, Main Stage
- Louis Riel: A Comic Strip Stage Play, Youth Series
- School of Theatre classes, workshops, and Spring camps
- Provincial Youth Tour
As we close our 2019-2020 season prematurely, our heartfelt thanks go out to the many talented theatre artists we have had the opportunity to work with this season. And we express our sincere regret to those of you who have lost the opportunity to create your art as a result of these cancellations. We look forward to working with you again in the future.
We have been responding and reaching out to our patrons as quickly as possible and assessing the impact of this current reality on our theatre and the work we do. We are extremely grateful that many of our patrons are expressing their support through donating the value of their tickets to the theatre or allowing a credit on their account for use at future productions.
Thank you for your continued support.
