Spotlight on Board Members
During the 2021/22 season, we will be introducing you to our board members, by sharing a little bit about one or two of them each newsletter.
This April, get to know a little bit more about board member, Rangi Jeerakathil.
Q. Why did you decide to become a Persephone Theatre board member?
A. I’ve always enjoyed live theatre, but my son was in Mary Poppins and from then on I was hooked. When I was approached to join the Board, I gladly accepted.
Q. How long have you been on the board?
A. Five years plus
Q. What is your day job?
A. I am a partner at MLT Aikins LLP, lawyer
Q. What do you like most about theatre?
A. The fact that it is live and is what it is – the different content and issues that often are not addressed in other media.
Q. Why do you think theatre is important to the community?
A. To me, a strong theatre industry shows that a community values the arts, deeper subject matter and cares about issues that are below the surface. Theatre is a form of art that reflect a community’s spirit and values.
Q. Do you have a favourite production/play? What is it and why is it your favourite?
A. My favourite musical was Mary Poppins, for obvious reasons (but it was fabulous). My favourite play was Butcher.
Q. What are you looking forward to this season?
A. I am looking forward to The Revolutionists. We had tickets to The Mountaintop, but could not make it unfortunately.
