Dear Friends of Persephone
March and April have been a challenging time for all of us and we thank you again for your amazing support and well wishes. It was disappointing to cancel productions like Stones in His Pockets (which was very close to being ready to open) and other greatly anticipated shows this season. Our beautiful venue, which is such an important cultural gathering place, is empty and we are missing our audiences greatly. But we are determined to keep looking forward positively as we carefully plan and prepare for a new season beginning in the Fall.
Our stages may be empty but much is happening behind the scenes! Director Anita Smith just recently completed video auditions for the comedy Smarty Pants – and we are receiving numerous video submissions for next season’s musical finale Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Designers are already working on their plans for sets, costumes, lighting and special effects. And Persephone’s Artistic Director Del Surjik and General Manager Kristen Dion are in constant Zoom meetings with our producing partners across the country as they carefully plan for all the possible scenarios. Where there’s a will there’s a way!
As we look forward to the physical distancing restrictions being relaxed at some point in the future, we will plan to thoughtfully and safely open Persephone’s doors again. We can’t wait to see you gather once again with your friends in our lobby and share in the magic that only a live performance can offer.
