Persephone Theatre: A Christmas Story
Persephone Theatre presents A Christmas Story, adapted from the classic holiday film by Philip Grecian.
Two young actors share the iconic leading role of Ralphie Parker, who wants nothing more than a new Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas, in Holman, Illinois in 1938.
In a story capturing childhood fantasy and Christmas nostalgia, Ralphie schemes to achieve his ultimate desire in time for the big day.
“I love the way this play reminds us, as adults, what it was like to view the world as a child — the intensity of the hopes, fantasies, struggles and frustrations of Ralphie’s childhood, remembered with fond nostalgia now that he’s an adult feels so familiar, even if we’ve not had identical experiences,” artistic director Heather Cant said.
“There’s something to relate to for audiences of any age. Those who love the film will not be disappointed, and the kids in this cast bring such a wonderful delight to the stage that makes it so much fun to watch, whether you’re familiar with the story or not.”
