Theatre School Instructor
Persephone Theatre School has opportunities for theatre artists and educators who are excited about inspiring others to find their creative voice. As Saskatchewan’s largest professional theatre, our programming includes classes, workshops and special event opportunities to learn, for all ages and experience levels.
Currently we have openings available for instructors for our Summer Creation Programs. We will consider applicants for full time summer opportunities or on an individual camp basis dependent on applicant availability.
Theatre School Instructors report to and work closely with Persephone’s Director of Education to ensure that programming and classes offered through the Theatre School maintain our inclusive and creative standard.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach classes using a combination of education and experience to support students as they develop tangible theatre skills, and meet the learning objectives for each program.
- Plan lessons to support program goals.
- Create an inclusive and encouraging safe space with a strong belief in the benefits of theatre arts education.
- Share ideas and supports with the teaching team.
- Provide mentorship support to camp assistants.
- Ensure the safety and security of students while in class or on breaks during programs.
- Maintain student and staff confidentiality.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Teaching and/or experience in education and/or drama.
- Ability to work with various age levels.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to stay positive and respond to the ever changing needs of students.
- Provide (upon offer of employment) a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sectors Search
- Be a positive team member.
- Belief in Persephone Theatre’s mission, vision and values, and a commitment to reconciliation, equity, diversity and inclusion
