2022/23 Invitation for Saskatchewan Artists to the Incubator Series

The Incubator Series is designed to support the development of new plays in Saskatchewan. Persephone Theatre invites Saskatchewan-based artists to share with us the details of a project in process, that would benefit from support from Persephone in its development. Support can mean a lot of things, from financial, to space, to human resources. Persephone could provide up two weeks of workshop or creation time depending on the nature of the project.

For the 2022-2023 season, we are able to support TWO projects. These could be text-based workshops of new scripts or physical workshops of a script, prototype, or idea. Projects might need things like use of space, expert consultation, fees to engage collaborators, admin support, or other necessary elements depending on where you are in the creation process. You tell us what you need! The selected projects would need to be able to make use of the offered support support by Jun 30, 2023.

How to Apply

There is no formal application form. We just need to hear from you, in your own words. You can do this through written letter or by video, whichever suits you best. Here are some of the things we are curious about:

• Please tell us a bit about yourself
• Who are your (current or desired) collaborators?
• What is the project you are working on?
• What is your ambition for this project?
• What stage of creation are you at?
• How could Persephone support you in moving your project forward?
• When would you like to undertake this work?

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: November 4, 2022.

We ask that written submissions be no more than 3 pages. Video submissions should be no more than 7 minutes. Submissions can be sent to [email protected] care of Artistic Director Heather Cant.

A roundtable of local independent artists will participate in the selection process. The two selected projects will be notified by December 20, 2022.

If there is a potential barrier that might prevent you from applying, we encourage you to let us know so we can work with you to dissolve it.

COVID-19 Worksafe Policy

Artists will be required to provide proof of vaccination against Covid-19 to Persephone prior to accepting a development workshop. Additional Covid-19 protocols may be in place at the time of workshop and such protocols will be clearly communicated to the Artists in advance.
